Power Slide. Stunt double Darcy Lott is on location at the Port of Oakland, positioned for a power slide — a dangerous trick in which she falls off a bike and skids under an 18-wheeler. Late getting to the set, Darcy’s intermittent boyfriend and stunt driver Damon Guthrie is forced to rush the scene. His truck malfunctions and Darcy is injured. Tensions have never been higher between them, and on top of it, Darcy’s siblings are pressuring her to search for Mike, their missing brother. When Guthrie observes that the shipping containers headed for Asia would be a good place to hide out or stash a body, Darcy thinks with horror of Mike. Is this where her brother could be? Guthrie is no help to Darcy given their tenuous relationship, and all of her usual connections in the police department are suddenly shutting her out, so she’s on her own in a desperate quest to find a link between the port and her brother. The hunt leads her to the canyons of Los Angeles, a stunt ranch hidden in the desert, and ultimately to a horrifying discovery in San Francisco.

No Footprints. What is death? Darcy Lott asks her Zen teacher, Garson-roshi. While scouting a location site on the Golden Gate Bridge, stunt double Darcy Lott sees a woman about to jump. The woman fights, but Darcy manages to pull her back. Before disappearing, the woman tells Darcy that by Thanksgiving she’ll be dead. Darcy has four days to find her and keep her from killing herself, but she has no idea who she is. Darcy tracks her to a dodgy San Francisco neighborhood, where she uncovers more perplexing facts. The woman ran a copy shop operating as a front for “the cockroach,” the shady police boss of the neighborhood, lived in a cheap apartment above a bagpipe player, and spent very little money except on an expensive racing bike the week before. Meanwhile, there are problems with the movie production. One of the producers, Macomber Dale, gets their permit revoked, causing them to redo an entire set-up, and then drives the stunt car off the Berkeley pier. The search leads Darcy to the last place a woman would ever bike to: the Top of the Mark on Nob Hill, to a swank charity reception at City Hall and finally to a place more terrifying than the cold Pacific.

Hungry Ghosts. In Buddhist lore, hungry ghosts have huge bellies and needle-thin necks and—because they cannot swallow the food they crave—their hunger is insatiable. The Barbary Coast, San Francisco’s infamous red-light district in the days when sailors could sit down for a drink and wake up on a ship bound around the Horn, has plenty of hungry ghosts. But it is the living ghosts who threaten stunt double Darcy Lott when she returns to San Francisco to serve as assistant to her Zen teacher, Leo Garson, in his new zendo. Darcy brings her own ghosts along as well. She is haunted by the disappearance of her beloved brother Mike and her estrangement from her family. From a turret atop a San Francisco Victorian, as she prepares for a thirty-five-foot dive to the sidewalk, she spots Mike on the roof of the zendo. By the time she reaches the roof, he is gone. When someone else she cares about disappears the next day, she fears the past is about to repeat itself. But Lott is unable to convince anyone of the danger, even her oldest brother, a police detective. Until a brutal murder shocks them all.

A Single Eye. Stuntwoman Darcy Lott can stare down any risky physical feat — until a mistake during a stunt injures Darcy's protegé. Significantly shaken and facing a crisis of confidence, Darcy calls upon her Buddhist beliefs and retreats to a monastery in the California redwoods. What she finds is anything but soul-centering: the monastery's enigmatic leader is poisoned, and an attempt is made on Darcy's own life. When harsh weather prevents Darcy from escaping the retreat, she and the other students pursue their meditation, even as the threat of murder lurks all around them. Darcy must overcome her own personal crisis in order to keep herself — as well as the other practitioners — safe.

A Guinea Pig Pride Prejudice. It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife. And Mrs Bennet has five unmarried daughters in want of husbands. Life is fairly uneventful until a promising young man, Mr Bingley, takes the nearby estate of Netherfield Park. And with him comes a handsome friend, whom the ladies see brooding in the corner at the next ball. The dashing Mr Darcy gains the admiration of every lady in the room, until, that is, he refuses to dance with Elizabeth Bennet. As time passes and their acquaintance grows, however, Mr Darcy begins to find Elizabeth's face rendered uncommonly intelligent by the beautiful expression of her dark eyes… Here is a brand new abridgement of the classic Jane Austen novel – this time with a cute, humble and handsome cast of guinea pigs in the starring roles. It's even more dreamy to fall in love with a furry Mr Darcy. 'This may be the definitive version of Pride and Prejudice. If they could get War and Peace down to this length, it would be a service to mankind' Salman Rushdie 'If you're anything like me, you had no idea how much the world needed a furry rodent reenactment of Lizzie and Darcy's love story until one existed' Melissa Albert
